A couple of days after the release of the BBC iPlayer widget that is available for download and my preview post, it has already been updated from version 1.0 to a 1.5 BETA!!! I think for this update to take effect you have to install the updated version of the widget found. The download link is below…
The 1.5 BETA version brings some welcome additions and improvements to the service and it is great to see that the BBC and Nokia are keen on improving and incorporating the service on their devices.
The update is available from here - the same link as before so the older version of the iPlayer widget is no longer available from the site.

The N96 is now available in a Quartz colour variant and is exclusive to Carphone Warehouse and their partners! The colour change only affects the battery cover leaving the rest of the N96 completely untouched.
I couldn’t find any clear pictures of the Quartz colour to show you but here is the magazine picture for the device (above). I saw an N96 in this colour instore earlier on today and it’s actually quite a light grey and looks very smart!
The Quartz version of the N96 is priced exactly the same as the black coloured N96 so you won’t be paying a premium for the exclusive colour!
Are there any Quartz N96 owners out there willing to share pictures of their new device!? Please let us know!!!

The BBC iPlayer application that was recently revealed to be preinstalled on the Nokia N96 has been made available for download today!!!
The application itself is actually a web runtime widget and programs are played using the built-in RealPlayer so will only be compatible with devices capable of running web runtime widgets…
Download BBC iPlayer here!!! Please note that this is only available for people in the UK.
Read on for my thoughts and more screenshots!!!

While I was browsing on Nokia’s Share on Ovi, I made a small discovery - a new colour variant for the recently announced N85 came to light thanks to an ‘official’? Spanish presentation (uploaded by ‘SocialMedia‘) highlighting some features and containing details about the device…
The new colour sees the N85 in a shade of Dark Grey. What’s unusual is that unlike the copper version (where the copper colour scheme covers both the middle and back of the handset), the Dark Grey variant still has the copper middle - a bit of a mixture isn’t it?!
I don’t know whether this colour will be widely available (if released at all). Dark Grey on the back is a nice change from the all black colour schemes recently though! I look forward to seeing more devices available in this colour in the future if this is true!!!
If there are any readers that speak Spanish and can translate some other interesting information from the presentation, please let us know!!!

WomWorld have been kind enough to allow me to trial the BH-902 Bluetooth Headset so that I could give it a test drive and share my thoughts with you all!!!
The BH-902 is an unusual headset in that it has its own OLED display on it’s face so that you can control and see various different functions. I will go into these different functions in the next part, and I am keen to find out how useful the screen will be in reality!!!

With the N95 and N95 8GB receiving updates, it only seemed right that the N82 would be next in line - and today there is a new update available - v30.0.019!
As usual, you can get access to this update through the Nokia Software Updater or at your local Nokia Service Point but at the moment it is currently only available for Euro 1 Product Codes. If there isn’t a new update available for you yet hopefully it will be online in the next few days!

Nokia Spain have uploaded videos onto Share on Ovi demonstrating and highlighting the features of both of the two recently announced devices.
What is interesting is that the N79 video showcases a possible new multimedia menu/UI for the Ovi collection of services and to manage your music and photos. Another interesting feature of the UI in the video is that the Nokia Music store seems to be integrated better with the music player application - and tracks are transferred straight to your music library.
Can we expect to see this new UI when the N79 ships and will t be available on the N85 as well??? It looks to be a huge improvement over the current multimedia menu and also more functional. I hope we can expect to see this interface on a device soon!!!
As for the N85 you can also see how well utilised the multimedia keys are of the device and the way that they change depending on what you are doing at the time - whether it be playback controls for music and video, dedicated N-Gage gaming keys or zoom in/out keys for the camera and photos application. It has the ability to do this thanks to intelligent lighting of the keys (like we saw on the N78).
It is great to see that the two-way slide design has been implemented so that is more useful than it has ever been before, and that the media keys can be used for more than just music and video.
Take a look at the videos for yourself and tell us what you think!!!

Symbian-Freak has the news that a couple of interactive demonstrations of the recently announced Nokia N79 and N85 has been leaked accidentally on the internet - just like the N96 demonstration a couple of months ago!
The demonstrations allow you to take a minature ‘tour’ around the devices (exploring some of their features) and gives assistance with setting them up for the first time…
More after the break!!!
